ROMANGIA

Our olives grow in places pervaded by a magical atmosphere.
We are located in the part of the North Western coast of Sardinia called Romangia, in a strip of land that borders on the colors of the sea and for this reason we like to call it Terrace on the Gulf of Asinara.
The plants stand on gentle limestone hills and on sandy plains, constantly heated and illuminated by the reflections of the sun, they stretch to observe the blue of the sky and sea to the north merge and become colored with pink and orange reflections in the evening, breathe the scents of Mediterranean scrub and endemic herbs of the area, and alternating with vineyards and orchards create an unmistakable, fascinating and soothing ecosystem.

The sea makes its proximity felt thanks to the brackish breezes and the mistral that blows frequently and infiltrates the branches of the branches making them play and dance.
This natural and climatic context is ideal for the life of olive trees and for fruiting an intense and balanced oil.

INTEGRATED AGRICULTURE

SQNPI-696x638

Integrated agriculture by definition is an agricultural production system with a low environmental impact, it provides for the coordinated and rational use of all the factors of production in order to minimize the use of technical means that have an impact on the environment or on the consumer health.

This means that with the aim of minimizing groundwater pollution, chemical weeding and soil residues, so is erosion; natural fertilizers such as legumes, pesticides with very low persistence, grassing practices, and other attentions are used.

THE BIODIVERSITY

The olive groves can be defined as a cradle of animal and vegetable biodiversity, they are in fact frequented by a great variety of insects, mammals and birds, it is not uncommon to meet turtles, foxes, lizards, as well as host the coexistence among the impressive olive trees and wild wild plants such as thistle, mallow, thyme, sage, mustard, fennel, chard, rocket.

THE SEASONS OF THE OLIVE TREE

fiore primavera
SPRING

The moment of awakening and recovery has come, the olive trees are enriched with new leaves and small shoots from which the first inflorescences similar to small clusters will grow, they are the little fingers that will then turn into delicate white flowers. It is the sweet season in which you can hear the flapping of the wings of butterflies and other small pollinating insects, and in which the meadows are covered with white and yellow flowering mantles.

SUMMER

It is the season in which the flowers become fruit, the first small olives are born. The climate in these moments is essential to ensure the well-being and size of the olives and the concentration of oil, in fact the sun helps us keep the fly away, and irrigation and some rain help the olives to grow. These are fundamental steps in monitoring to guarantee a quality final product.

foglia autunno
AUTUMN

The autumn months are the ones that bring rain and windy days, everything is gradually tinged with yellow, orange and red, but the olive tree stands out because it is an evergreen. For us, they are above all the long-awaited months of harvesting, months in which from dawn to dusk we are pleasantly immersed in the places of oil, from the countryside to the mill. It is the decisive moment to give value to the work of a whole year, it is necessary to choose the right moment to obtain the desired oil, to respect the quality parameters but above all the intensity of aromas and flavors chosen.

fiocco neve
WINTER

The cold season is also arriving in Sardinia, the sun warms timidly and the humidity bathes the grassy grounds, welcoming us every morning with lots of frost. The harvest is ending, now the plants are in vegetative rest and it is therefore the time to direct them towards the production of fruits. These are the best months to practice pruning where necessary, which gives the plants more light and air, and to start natural fertilization activities according to an integrated regime.
